March 2017 Income Report: How I Made $4 as a Newbie Blogger

Why I’m Sharing Income and Growth Stats

Well, I decided to add income reporting to the lists of series that I do! Why, you ask? Good question! I was asking that myself just before beginning this draft.

It’s one more thing to write about!

Don’t you love reading all of my material? Oh, you flatter, and how can I not oblige? Sharing monthly reports gives you more to look forward to and me more things to write about without running out of ideas (Like that could ever happen)!

You and/or other readers might be interested in starting your own blog!

Join ussss *creepy child beckoning*. Before I got started, every report I came across would grab my attention with this “I made 6 figures blogging!” headline. But when I clicked through, most of the income was from a connected business like coaching or product sales! Well, I don’t have any products to sell yet, dangit! At the time of writing this post, I haven’t even made an affiliate sale yet! I’m just thinking, my gosh, don’t convince me I can make a full-time income by blogging when the majority of your income isn’t directly related to blogging. *Puts away soapbox* Anyway, I hope to share honest reports with y’all so that you have a realistic picture of what it’s like to start out and build a blog if this is a side hustle you’re wanting to pursue. Good luck, by the way!

This helps me track my own progress.

I’m allowed to be a little selfish in my public endeavors, aren’t I? Well, I’m still doing it. Everyone else is, I’m jumping off the cliff too! At least I can use the series posts for a good comparison.

I still don’t know what you all want from me!

I know I said I’m going to write about whatever I want, but the whole point of this project is to support myself without having to shovel horse doo-doo (metaphorically). If I wanted to just write for my own sake, I wouldn’t pay for my own hosting in order to monetize it. If y’all like my style but not my content, I’m happy to provide content that interests you! From the little I have published so far, it’s hard to tell what works yet. So if income reports are what you want, income reports are what you’ll get!

BOOM. There you have it.

Let’s Look at Traffic and Some Other Stats

Oh yea, you’re getting this, too. So hooray if that’s what you expected! Or sorry ’boutcha if you just wanted some straight-up money numbers. But traffic and social media stats clearly have a correlation with income, so I think it’s important to include.

*FYI: My alphabetical subscription page went viral on Stumbleupon. Because of this, I had some abnormal numbers in February, which will make growth comparison complicated. I consider March my first normal month, but have some February stats included simply because I have them.

March 2017 Income Report: How I Made $4 as a Newbie BloggerMarch Income Report

I currently only have my site registered with two platforms, Google Adsense and Amazon Affiliates. Like I said above, I didn’t make any affiliate sales this month, so it’s all ads, babes!

Adsense: $4.13

I know what you’re probably thinking. “$4 whole dollars! Kelsey must be living the high life on that goldmine!” I agree with your sarcasm, and you can contact me on any of the platforms above to arrange a donation or employment arrangement, if it bothers you that much. But this isn’t my only source of income, I have other hustles to keep my life afloat. Besides, if you ask any other first-time blogger, they’ll tell you they didn’t start out with cash flowing in like lava. As I said at the beginning of this post, I’m trying to be realistic with you. My only hope is that it will turn out the same as it has for others, and the growth will be exponential-it’s just gotta start out somewhere.

Top Posts and Pages

I said earlier that I’m not yet sure what posts and pages are working yet, but I have a hint!

  1. The Alphabetical Version of my subscription box directory: 909
  2. My Home page: 339
  3. My post on giving up calorie-filled drinks for a month: 195
  4. The actual Subscription Box Directory: 154
  5. My post on doing the Gallon Challenge: 138

Goals for April

“What?! Kelsey, I thought this was just an income report, I don’t care about your goals!” Come say that to my FACE. Ha! I got things I want to do and places I want to be, goals help me accomplish that! Maybe you can learn from them and make some for yourself!

Traffic: I want to get up to 6000 monthly visitors, 200 daily. That’s a 62% increase! Can I do it? Probably not! But you can help, by reading my other posts! Please.

Mailing List: Let’s shoot for an even 20, 55% growth! That’d be cool.

Pinterest: 600 seems like a good number. That’s 34% growth!

Facebook: 375 with a growth of 48% could be fun!

Twitter: 175 followers for a 9% increase.

Instagram: 115 would be a 16% growth.

I’m not too worried about all of the others. How will I make these accomplishments? Who knows! More social media engagement, I’m sure! But you all can help by following me at any of the accounts if you aren’t already!

What do I hope to earn next month? Definitely more. We will go for $7, I think that’s a doable goal, don’t you? Let’s hope!

THIS ===> “don’t convince me I can make a full-time income by blogging when the majority of your income isn’t directly related to blogging.”

It is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves and there are SO many bloggers doing it. It’s misleading and scummy and I don’t like it. I’m sorry, but I’ve been in the biz for over 10 years and I’ve seen many legitimate online business owners start and grow their sites/blogs…and they weren’t making thousands a month in the first year, let alone their first few months (well, a few did it in a year, but they hustled!)

You’re doing well! Keep on keepin’ it real (because that’s the only kind of income report I ever read! LOL) <3

I think your article is very informative and gives me realistic expectations as I venture into monetized blogging in earnest but I just wish you were a little less self depreciating in your humor. That’s all internal.

I enjoyed reading this and seeing that your followers went up and you made some money on Adsense. I didn’t make any affiliate income money in March either.
