Every month, I do a review of one of the many subscription services you can subscribe to. This month, I reviewed 1UP Box, a fan and comic gear subscription service.

1UP Subscription Options

Every month has a different theme. I got the April theme of May’s theme is “Genius.” They’ve also had themes including “Galaxy,” “Power,” “Nightmare,” and “Legend.”

There are three different plans you can subscribe to. Every box comes with a shirt and other assorted toys and gear.

Pricing

Monthly: $12.92, and you can cancel anytime.
3 Months: $51.56 ($12.42/month)
6 Months: $106.52 ($11.92/month)

Shipping and handling is $7 for all three plans.

Bonus! If you use the code AWESOME, you can save $3 on your first order from one of these plans.

So there isn’t a huge price difference. If you know for a fact that you want every box they dish out, you can save yourself a few bucks in the long run by doing the long term plans. But if you just want a one-time treat or can’t dish the cash out all at once, the monthly is perfect for you.

Target Audience

1UP claims their target audience includes “the magnificent geeks and gamers of our time.” So this is anyone who is a fangirl/fanboy, gamers. Definitely millennials, I’d say.

From my estimation, the total savings from getting these items grouped together was about $20, which is a really good deal. But only if you know you want all of these items. Personally, I’ll probably only wear the T-Shirt and try out the watch included. I’ve been trying to end my pack-rat ways, so I’m trying to cut back on the knick knacks. I’ll probably just find super fans to give most of this stuff to. The real novelty in this box is that it’s a little hard to find the items individually. Other than the little Marvel dolls, I couldn’t find the exact items for sale online.

So for my conclusion-I’m not going to continue to get the box, but it’s a neat, affordable gift for someone who’s into all things gaming and fandom.
